“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John16:33 ESV)
Have you ever had to come to grips with something in your life that is not pleasant but is inevitable? Maybe it is a divorce, illness, or loss of a child. We can get angry, very angry. We can feel lost. Frustration can overcome us, especially when we are mentally and physically impacted.
This happens to all of us, and when it does, we might get that pit in our stomach and think why, why me? Let me remind you and myself that we deserve nothing. We are rebellious and sinful in nature. Even when we have taken the Lord as our Savior, we still think, why me? Stop and remember that the life of a Christian is not easy. The point of Christianity is death. When we die in this world, we then are in the presence of Christ.
If you are going through troubles, have faith that trials of this world will come and go through no fault of your own. What matters is what you have received through Christ that gives you hope. In every trial, Christ is with you, you are never alone, and although your life may change, and that change may not always be for the better, Christ loves you and will provide for you. Feeling sorry for yourself solves nothing. Having faith and seeing the glory of Christ in all you can do is everything.
Paul said he had a thorn in his side and that the Lord would not remove it, yet he persevered. Wherever or whatever your thorn is, take heart in Christ and persevere. The reward is at the end of the race.
