Worship God on His Holy Hill

“I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being. May my meditation be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord.” Psalm 104:33-34ESV.

Have you ever been sitting in your car, and your favorite Christian song comes on the radio? You start singing and singing loudly. You look over at the car next to you, and the person is staring at you. Have you ever been there? It is even worse now that spring is here and our windows are down.

Who Needs Talent

It doesn’t matter whether you can or can’t sing. God isn’t Simon Cowell, and this isn’t America’s Got Talent. God loves our worship; He loves our singing and music. God commands us to lift up our praise. The psalmist of Psalm 33:2-4 ESV wrote, “Play the lyre and praise the Lord. Play the ten-stringed harp for him. Sing a new song to him. Play it well and sing it loud!” God loves to be worshiped by us. We glorify God the most when we are most satisfied in Him. Have you ever been singing a worship song and been overcome by the Spirit? Tears fall, and you stop singing because you can’t sing anymore; you are overwhelmed with joy. That is when God is glorified the most!

Be careful; it's Catchy.

When we worship, its effects are not limited to us. We can affect others. Paul wrote, “Let the teaching of Christ live inside you richly. Use all wisdom to teach and counsel each other. Sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” Colossians 3:16 ESV. When we sing our worship, praise, and the glorification of God, others in faith learn from our example. They become less timid and worship with emotion and power. So, not only are we pleasing God, but we are also cultivating the depth of glorification of God in others.

My son and I play guitars and other string instruments together. Sometimes I must stop and praise God because the moments we share are so profound and connected through Christ that it is overwhelming. When I watch him play as part of a worship team, the glory of God overcomes me as I see that glory shining through my son. Knowing the talent, love, and desire to worship through music displayed by my son is from God. It gives me, as a father, assurance of the presence of the Spirit within Him. It is evidence of his salvation, having already accepted Christ as his savior. It is the same for us. Our zeal in worship, displays of emotion, and devotion through song are evidence of our salvation.

Look Up Ahead

Pastor Paul Washer said, worship is like a man walking down the street in New York City, and he stops, looks up, and stands there staring. Eventually, people walking by start looking up until a crowd grows with everyone looking up. That is worship. The perfect worship team does not draw attention to themselves but makes everyone reach and look up to God, who is all lovely, all-powerful, and all satisfying.

Worship Worship Everywhere

Give praise through worship. Jesus Christ laid down His life for you. He suffered, died, and rose from the dead for you. He became a curse for you. All so you could be reunited in a relationship with God, forgiven of your sins, and cleansed by the blood of Christ. Christ has restored you as a child of God. Worship the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. Worship Him on His holy hill. Worship Him in the depths of nature. Worship Him on the city steps. Wherever you are, you are redeemed. Be satisfied in God and glorify him through your satisfaction and song! Peace!
