Who are you talking to?

“Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the Lord your God.” (Leviticus 19:31 ESV)
In our society, it is believed by many that man knows best. Unfortunately, if you examine our culture, you can tell that man does not know best.
Many believe things like palm readings, tarot cards, and Ouija boards are “just fun and games” and “they aren’t real.” Well, they are real. Just as the Holy Spirit is real. If you are a Christian, you believe that the Holy Spirit is a living Spirit that inhabits us. He works daily in our life. If you believe this, as you should, you should also believe that there are demonic spirits at work in the world because they are authentic, just as satan is real.
Mediums are necromancers. A necromancer is one who communicates with the dead. There are some very famous mediums, and others have asked me if I believed what they did was real. My answer is yes. Unfortunately, it’s not like Facetime; you don’t know who is on the other end.
Dealing with Tarot cards, palm readings, astrology, and even yoga is playing with fire. In March, 30 girls were hospitalized in Columbia, South America, with extreme anxiety after “playing” with a Ouija board. It’s not a game.
Yoga, really, aren’t you paranoid? No, those with theological knowledge will tell you it is not just exercise but spiritual exercise. The basis of yoga is antithetical (hostile) to Christianity. Pastor John Piper writes that it opposes Christian Orthodox beliefs because it has a basis in Eastern metaphysics. Piper also notes, “The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit language and means merger or union. The ultimate aim of that philosophy is to strike a balance between mind and body and attain a kind of self-enlightenment through the use of mantra and certain kinds of physical exercises or meditative stances.” (Is Yoga Sinful? | Desiring God). It is not just exercise. Look a little deeper before you embark on things that “ elevate you or your mind and body” they might be very dangerous and lead to idolatry.
Stick to our God. If you seek balance in your life, enlightenment, peace, and tranquility, seek the Lord. Jesus Christ provides all these things to those who trust Him and Him alone.
Peace and grace
