Unchanging

“To give a human example, brothers: even with a man-made covenant, no one annuls it or adds to it once it has been ratified.” (Galatians 3:15 ESV)
The blood of the New Covenant was shed for all who come to faith in Jesus Christ. God has made covenants since creation and has upheld every single one. The New Covenant Shatters the sacrificial system of the Old Testament. God is steadfast and true to His word, fulfilling all covenants without change.
However, we are not steadfast and true. We ask for salvation, submit to God, and repent of our sins through the grace of Jesus Christ. In the same breath, we sin. Again, through the grace and mercy of Christ, we are forgiven while repenting of our failure. Unrepentant sin is another story, but the blood of Jesus covers repented sin.
My point is that God does not change a single aspect of the New Covenant. In fact, the New Covenant is all about forgiveness for those who place their faith in Christ. It is Christ’s penal substitutionary propitiation that is the foundation of the Covenant. This covenant is not a decree but was made with man at the Last Supper. It was ratified in the passing of the cup, which Christ stated was the cup of his blood to be shed for humans of faith. (Luke 22:20) Having been ratified, this covenant will never change.
Coming to faith in Jesus Christ requires a supernatural changing of the heart. We are indwelled by the Holy Spirit, who convicts us of our sins so that we may face them and repent before the Lord. In the New Covenant, the word of God is now written on our hearts, not the stone tablets of the Mosaic Covenant. (Jeremiah 31:33) If you are a Christian, you have felt the conviction of the Spirit and understand the feeling and weight of your own sin.
God does not change; “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). The only thing that changes is us. Throughout our lives, we are evolving, being molded into the image of Christ. We fail, repent, and grow stronger in faith, but the New Covenant remains the same. The cleansed blood of Christ and His grace are an unchanging pillar of strength.
Do you know Jesus Christ? Have you experienced his grace and mercy? If not, do not wait any longer. Submit to the will of the Lord and accept Him as your Savior; things will change, and will they ever, but only in you, the promise remains the same.
