“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1 ESV)

Everyone struggles with the world. Those who do not know Christ are constantly searching for peace. The only problem is they are all looking in the wrong places. What they find is a temporary peace that, when it ends, makes their desire for peace more desperate.

Everything born in the world ends in the world. New cars, money, sex, drugs, all these things give satisfaction, a “peace,” that is temporary. When they end, the need for peace is even stronger when they wear off. This is how the enemy draws the weak deeper and deeper into sin. It is like sinking in a pool of quicksand. Once you start sinking, you need immediate help to get out before it is too late and you are overcome.

Paul told us in Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." Our faith in Christ saves us, and the peace of the Lord comes upon us, never leaving, never-ending. When we are justified in Christ, the grace, peace, and mercy of the Lord are ours. Because they are ours as they grow, as we grow in sanctification, our need for sin is pushed out of our hearts, and the void is filled with the Spirit.

Peace was made available to the world when Jesus died and rose again. Without faith in Christ, there can be no peace, for the peace of Jesus Christ is everlasting.  The Lord knows all on who His peace rests. In Christ, there is life and peace; in the world, there is no peace, only death. Paul clarified, "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23).  Peace can come today if you let Jesus place your faith in Christ. Open your heart to the Lord, and you will have a peace you have never known. A peace that lasts forever.

May the peace of the Lord be with you.

Amen, John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid." The only peace that lasts.
