Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. (Proverbs 10:6 ESV)

God blesses the righteous; there is no doubt. He blesses them not in a worldly way but in a righteous way. In turn, the wicked will either be punished in this world or in hell. We can tell the difference by one’s fruit, the fruit of the Spirit.

In most cases, you can get a feeling for someone’s devotion to God by their mannerisms, speech, and presence. If you are filled with the light of God, the light cannot be hidden. This 'light of God' is the spiritual radiance that emanates from a person who is deeply connected to God and reflects His love, peace, and joy. Jesus said, “No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light.” (Luke 11:33) I am sure you have seen these people who are filled with the peace of the Lord. It is undeniable.

Many who speak God’s words and toil in His service are not necessarily filled with the light of truth. Hidden in “Christian speak,” actions, and knowledge of the Word, they conceal violence, violence of a worldly life. This 'concealed violence' refers to the sinful and ungodly actions and attitudes that are not overtly expressed but are present in the hearts and lives of those who claim to be Christians. Being a Christian is not about your religiosity; it is about your submission to God.

The violence that is concealed in someone manifests itself in their speech and activities. Everything we see around us in the world is the manifestation of the hidden evil in people. In the righteous confrontation of evil, the concealed violence is released by the individuals. Every protest you see of a righteous principle is a revealing of the concealed violence of those outside the Lord.

So, here is what is revealed when we examine this verse in the context of our modern society. As Christians, we are not just mere spectators, but we must actively remain a light to the world. Despite persecution, confrontations, and the violent evil that exists in the world, we are the light of God to those outside His grace. Our role is significant, and we must shine brightly. Secondly, everything that is occurring in this world is by God’s design. While God does not plan evil, the evil that occurs will be used by God for His purposes. We must remain faithful.

I have heard Christians asking, “How could God let this happen?” This is not a question we should be asking. In fact, we should be seeing what is transpiring as a fulfillment of Christ's words, “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.” (Matthew 24:6-8).

Be a light, the light of one match is faint, but it can start a fire so great it can be seen in space. Most importantly, it is seen by God. Sin is hidden in darkness. If you are standing in darkness, come to Christ. Be cleansed of your sin, have peace in this troubled world, and come to know you are a child of God. Seek Christ, and become adopted, and if adopted, then an heir to the Kingdom with Christ.

Grace and Peace.
