“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. (1 John 3:1 ESV)

Why? Why did God choose you? Why did He choose me? Why did God choose to display His love to us? Even before we knew Him, He chose to love us.

Throughout history, we see God choose not the biggest, the strongest, the wisest, or the richest; God chose the worst. Why? In Deuteronomy chapter seven, God answered this question that Israel also asked. God essentially said I love you because I love you. My love does not depend on you; I chose and elected you. My love for you was my choice; it begins with me and ends with me. The God of all creation, who is not controlled, bound, or subservient to anything or anyone, chose to love you. Not because He saw something special in you or that you would understand Him, simply because He chose to love you.

This life is not as good as it gets. There is so much more waiting for us when we leave this life, and it troubles me that some believe this is all you get. In 1 Corinthians 2:9, Paul wrote, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him.” There is more that you cannot even imagine. I can hear you, “Ah, for those who love him.” My love for God is not perfect; where does that leave me? Just stop it; stop thinking that way. God made you, knows your heart, and knows you are not perfect, but He chose to love you! But I am not worthy… please stop with this idea that you are not worthy. God makes you worthy, His blood makes you worthy; His choice makes you worthy.

In Ephesians 2:6-7 Paul wrote, “and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” He raised us up to be with Him in heaven. Let us look at it this way to try to grasp this idea. There is no calendar in heaven, but let’s just say there is a construct of time in heaven. So that we can grasp this idea, let us say you are in heaven; you are there because God loves you. All of creation, seeing what you were and now are, will gasp at what God has done for you. Then, the next day, God lavishes more love and grace upon you, and creation gasps again in wonder and worships God because of what He has done for you. Day after day, God continues to lavish his love and grace upon you exponentially, more and more each day. The more He loves you, the more you love Him, and you fall on your face and worship every day because the God of creation chose to love you and demonstrates this love increasingly every single day. The more you are loved, the more You glorify Him because you are more satisfied in him. That is the love of God, and the only reason He loves you is to show how good He truly is. He turns over the inheritance of His son, our Lord, to the worst of the worst. He turns it over to us.

Do not live lost in this life. Struggles, trials, money, do not get lost here, please. There is no word in Greek, Hebrew, or English that I can use to describe the fullness of God’s love, grace, or mercy. Therefore, I will pray that each of us, a child of God, a saint of the Lord, continues to grow in His love until the day we stand in it. If I could give you one gift, it would be the comprehension of God’s love for you.

If you desire to be loved like this, call out to God. Tell Him you are a sinner and want to be changed and forgiven. Ask Him to be your Savior.

Peace and Grace!
