Solei Deo Gloria

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? (Matthew 7:15-16 ESV)

There is another liberal faction of Christianity making its way into churches across the world. It is called “progressive Christianity” and is very dangerous. Progressive Christianity diminishes the son of God and His propitiation for our salvation, making Him more of a “moral guide.”

Moralism is the primary basis of progressive Christianity, and as we should know, we can never save ourselves from our sinful ways. We require a Savior, our Lord Jesus Christ. Moralism is following the laws of God with no Gospel. There is no good news of salvation through Christ; it is simply works righteousness that always fails.

Some factions of progressive Christianity also focus on social justice and environmentalism, not salvation through the cross. All of us should question pastors, ministers, and priests when they begin to deviate from the five Solas.

Salvation comes only from:

Sola Scriptura – Scripture alone

Sola Fide – through Faith alone

Sola Gratia – by Grace alone

Sola Christus – in Christ alone

Solei Deo Gloria – All for the Glory of God alone

Anything that deviates from this is not Orthodox Christianity.
