Seek The Lord

“For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel: “Seek me and live; but do not seek Bethel, and do not enter into Gilgal or cross over to Beersheba; for Gilgal shall surely go into exile, and Bethel shall come to nothing.” (Amos 5:4-5 ESV)

Let me ask you a question. Do you go to church? I hope your answer is no. I am not saying we should not meet for worship. Meeting for worship is essential. It is a time of fellowship and glorifying God. However, we do not go to church; we ARE the church. If you read the New Testament, nowhere is the church referred to as a building. The church is a people. God called Peter by the name Cephas, which means rock, and told Peter on this rock, I will build my church, build his people, not a building.

In the Old Testament, God warned Israel repeatedly that showing up for worship and going through the motions would not cut it. Nothing has changed. If we are not being satisfied in a church, not being fed the word, and not being supercharged in worship, then there is a problem.

Famous places of worship are sometimes amazing; however, we find life by seeking God. Most times, I find Him best in the middle of the woods alone, but still, I relish in worship, fellowship, and God’s presence. Remember, where two or more are gathered in His name, Jesus is there.
