Refections

“As in water face reflects face, so the heart of man reflects the man.” (Proverbs 27:19 ESV)
Having spent 25 days with Sinclair Ferguson, we reflected on many things. There were facts I had not considered. There were perspectives that caused deep reflection and a view of the nativity story, which struck deep in the heart of this Christian and, hopefully, your heart as well. Reading the post “Wood to Wood” to my wife made me overcome with emotions. I could not speak. My heart was broken, and I was in tears. My heart ached at the fact that our Savior had nothing on earth. He was an outcast, and “He became a curse for us.” (Galatians 3:13 ESV). Like us, Christ’s riches and kingship were not of this world. Like us, He struggled and felt love, despair, grief, loss, and happiness. Christ was 100% human and 100% God; He understands our lives. Who better to be our mediator to God?
I hope that the words of Sinclair Ferguson enriched you. Many of his sermons, teachings, and books are available online. Ligonier Ministries carries many of his writings. I wish you the best as we head into the new year. We at InMessiah.com are very humbled that you shared this Christmas season with us. It has been the strongest consistent view of our blog since we started.
If you are going to make a New Year’s resolution, I ask that you consider making the resolution to spread the gospel. Spread the gospel through ministry, social media, links to InMessiah, or the grocery line. Yes, it can be intimidating; yes, you can get laughed at or yelled at, but God will be with you. If we all lived our lives like Paul, imagine how many people would come to know Christ. Paul wrote, " To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God, who created all things, so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places."(Ephesians 3:8-10 ESV). "Though I am the least of all saints," I see that in the mirror, Paul speaks of me; God gave me the grace to speak His words so that He could change the lives of those who did not yet know Him—considering He did that for me, how could I do anything else for Him?
Most people do not keep their New Year’s resolutions. If you make this one, and God will bless you in His work, it is one resolution you will keep for eternity.
Peace and Grace!
