The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.  (Psalm16:5-6 ESV)

Everyone wants a piece of the pie. They want their slice of the action, their allotted portion. It does not matter what it is: cars, money, or jobs. We are always in a competition. The first question we ask is, “What do you do for a living?” It is our way of gauging, “How big is your portion?”

Let us shift our thinking. Instead of striving for a small piece of the worldly pie, let's declare, “God is my portion.” We haven't just received a small slice; we've been blessed with it all! As Jesus advised in Matthew 6:19, “ Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust[destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” God is the ultimate provider, and one of the greatest sins we carry is coveting, whether we acknowledge it or not. In God, we find abundance beyond measure.

Do not settle for the darkness of the world when you can have Jesus, the Light of the world, living in your heart. True fulfillment comes only through the grace and peace of our Savior. God provides all we need. God knows what we need before we ourselves know. Trust in the finished work of Christ.

Blessings!
