“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1 ESV)

Peace, as we understand it in this context, is not merely the absence of conflict, but a deep sense of tranquility and harmony that comes from being in a right relationship with God. It is something most everyone desires. It is in our prayers for others, our families, our friends, and the world. When most look for peace, they seek it in the wrong places. Peace is not found in religion, nor is it found in tradition. Peace for many feels unattainable.

Many futilely seek peace in the world, unaware that true peace cannot be found in a world under the control of the prince of the power of the air, Satan. Paul's words to Titus (3:3) resonate: For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another.” Those of the world are self-absorbed and know no peace. They are slaves to sin, they seek love in debauchery, and passions in things contrary to the commands of God. Why would one look for peace here?

It is through faith in Jesus that we can find true peace. This faith is not a mere intellectual belief, but a deep trust and reliance on Jesus as our Savior and Lord. It is this faith that allows us to receive the peace that Jesus left for us. It does not take a treasure map, money, religiosity, or tradition to find it. True peace can only be received from Jesus.

Christ died on the cross, a physical death. His death was required to pay the price for our sin. We have been purchased, and our sin debt has been paid in full by the blood of Christ. Whoever believes in Christ as the risen Son of God, who places their faith in Christ, will receive his peace. In the upper room as He ate the Passover meal with His disciples, Christ said to them: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.” (John 14:27). Even after being with Christ for three years, these men still did not understand what Christ was saying. We on this side of the cross do understand. True peace can only be found by those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ.

When we accept Christ as our Savior, we are transformed. We understand that true peace can only be found through salvation in Jesus. There is no other way to find true peace, or happiness for that matter. Both originate from Him and give us satisfaction in life that cannot be overcome.  From this satisfaction, peace and happiness exude from us like a light from a lamp. A light that cannot be turned off or burned out. We become a beacon of light, the light of Christ in this world, even though we who have accepted Christ as our Savior have passed from this life to eternal life.

Do you seek peace in your life? Are you tired of the turmoil and trouble? Are you tired of ending up brokenhearted at the end of a day that should be full of joy? Seek Christ and know peace. Call out to Him to become your Savior and accept Him into your heart. He will leave His peace with you, and He will live in you.

A love beyond compare, a peace beyond measure, all ready to be given to you, and you can do nothing to get it on your own. You must submit to Christ as your Lord and Savior, turn your back, repent of your sin with a supernatural changing of your heart and mind, and you need do nothing more than ask. Paul told us, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13). Do you know peace? Come and know Jesus.

Choose Life, Get Saved.
