My Father, my God, as the greater light breaks over the mountains and a new day unfolds before my eyes, I come to You, not just as a faithful servant, but as Your beloved child, full of hope and anticipation for Your spiritual guidance on this, the Lord’s Day. I pray, Father, that I will be filled with the Holy Spirit, a source of great joy and strength. I know there will be challenges in the choices I make, in the words that come forth from my mouth, and in my work. I trust, Father, that You will give me the wisdom, inspiration, and strength to overcome these challenges, and that my work will bring glory to Your name.
Lord, Your mercy and grace are new daily, and I cling to them. I pray I will have the patience and forethought, Father, to personify the love and compassion of Jesus in all my interactions. Whether it's with those I know or will be blessed to meet, I will strive to listen more, be more understanding, and offer forgiveness. I pray, Lord, that I will see others through Your eyes and treat them with the kindness, understanding, and forgiveness You have treated a sinner like me.
No matter what my tasks, great or small, let me not lose sight of what truly matters. You, Lord, are what matters above all things. I rely on Your guidance to protect me from the evil one, the temptations and distractions that can lead me astray from Your eternal truth, the promises of salvation and eternal life, and Your love that sustains me.
Thank You, Lord, for the gift of this new day, the Lord’s Day. I am grateful for the unending grace you have shown me in my life, the opportunities and challenges of yesterday that have shaped me, and the promise of tomorrow. May today be as yesterday and tomorrow, full of Your unending grace in my life. Amen.
In Matt. 28, God communicates the greatest foundational truth ever told. Without it, Christianity falls apart; the gospel becomes powerless, our faith worthless, and our relationship with God impossible. He shares this truth with four groups of people, and each group handles the truth differently.
Amen!!
Amen, to that.
