“From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my statutes and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts. But you say, ‘How shall we return?” (Malachi 3:7 ESV)
How? How do we return to God? We may backslide. We have turned our back to Him in our youth, thinking we knew better. We may have an addiction. We have fallen deep into the world.
It does not matter. It doesn’t matter if it was a slip of the tongue in anger, frustration, or despair. It does not matter if we had a moment of weakness and Satan led us into an old habit. It does not matter if your hair is whitening, and you realize now more than ever you need your relationship with the Lord. None of it matters.
What matters is you fall on your face, open your mouth, and repent your sins to the God of your fathers, the one true living God, your Creator, your Father in Heaven, your Lord and Savior. Repent. He is rich in mercy. He is full of compassion and grace.
Malachi wrote the words of today’s scripture, and God gave them to him. How is your relationship with the Lord? Is it lacking? Don’t wait. He is willing to listen if you are willing to repent.
Peace and Grace!
