“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1-2 ESV)
Our society has been disabled. Everyone is looking for someone to do anything for them when the answer lies within salvation through the finished work of Christ. People look for Pastors to save them when the truth from a true pastor is not what they want to hear. They do not want to acknowledge their sin, so they seek what tickles their ears, which, sadly, is the opposite of the gospel.
Sinners look to the government for food, money, and a sense of identity. They are looking to have their beliefs validated, but when faced with God, their beliefs are damning. Finding out who you are, why you are here, and what your purpose is cannot be found in this world. These are question we all have at some point in our lives. The answers to these questions can only be found in Christ Jesus.
Paul wrote, “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13). Our life must be anchored in Christ. When we submit to Christ by grace through faith, we are made righteous in God's sight. Our identity is found in Christ, Christ fulfils our needs, and we are enabled to walk by faith in the Spirit, knowing we are no longer a part of this disabled, dead society.
The writer of Hebrews is telling us in no uncertain terms that Jesus is the author and finisher of our salvation. Written before the world, God knows each of us intimately, and He is waiting for each of us to come to Him humbly. Christ died on the cross and rose from the tomb so that death was defeated. It was a joy for Christ to know that through His obedience, His people could be reunited with God. He did this for you while you were still a sinner, lost in the world.
Do you know Christ as your Savior, or are you still disabled in a dead world? Be certain of your eternity, come to Him today, seek Christ, and receive salvation through faith in the Son of God.
Choose Life, Get Saved.
