Just For You

“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.”
Jesus was about to be taken into custody. The Gospel of John differs from the Synoptic Gospels because, at this time, Jesus does not leave the apostles with an apocalyptic discourse; instead, the beloved apostle reveals Jesus’ lengthy prayer to the Father, which He also meant for you. In John 17:20-21 ESV, Jesus follows His prayer for the apostles with a prayer for you, yes you.
As Jesus left the upper room to take leave in Gethsemane, right before being seized, He prayed for those who, through the Apostles, would come to believe in Him. He prayed that you would come to Him and the Father and become one as they are one. The only way for this to have happened or to happen is if the Father had or has enabled you to understand the Gospel. We cannot know who He has enabled; only God knows.
My point is this: if you know Christ or seek Him for whatever reason, you are already His. To be one with Him, we must do as Jesus said: be born again of water and the Spirit. To verbally profess your faith in Him opens the door to salvation. In this case, I will refer to being born of water as adult immersion baptism. One can see this verse as many things, which is why I, in this writing, am referring to water baptism; Christians see this as an outward expression of your inward dedication to the Lord.
God knew you before you were born. He knew you before the beginning of time, and 2,000 years ago, before He was persecuted; He prayed that you would become one with Him and the Father. Isn’t the love of the Lord simply amazing? There is no other love like it.
If you do not know Him, run to Him! He is waiting for you.
Peace and Grace!
