It was You

Heavenly Father,
As the world seems on the brink of destruction, let us remember that you
control all things and that it is you who laid the foundation of the earth.
It is you who determined its measurements and stretched the line upon it?
It is you who know on what were its bases sunk, and you who laid its cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
It is you who shut in the sea with doors when it burst out from the womb,
when you made clouds its garment and thick darkness its swaddling band,
and prescribed limits for it and set bars and doors, and said, 'Thus far shall you come, and no farther.' (Job 38)
Lord, contain this precursor of war, give rational thought to the irrational. Give peace to the vengeful and turn this river of violence towards Your sea of peace. If this is Your will, Lord, then so let it be done to Your glory. We pray You will watch over those who defend and protect. Let those in harm's way find shelter in You. And give strength to your servants who may use this time to call to You those who are still blind and deaf to the Gospel of our Lord Jesus.
In the precious name of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, we pray, Amen.
