“Now as he went on his way, he approached Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven shone around him. And falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?” And he said, “Who are you, Lord?” And he said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. But rise and enter the city, and you will be told what you are to do.” (Acts 9:3-6 ESV)

Paul was confirmed as an apostle because he was converted by Christ directly. He was a witness to Christ. There are a lot of self-proclaimed apostles nowadays. Are they truly apostles? If you look at what they preach, not so much.

Christ called to Paul on the road to Damascus. Paul was on the way to persecute Christians. Paul had been involved in the murder of many Christians. But Christ changed him. For Paul, there was no denying the King of kings. Christ told Paul what to do, and even though Paul did not believe before he met Christ on the Damascus road, afterward, he did believe.

If you are a Christian, do you remember Christ's call to you? Most likely, it was not as dramatic as Paul's, but nonetheless, Christ had changed you. My question is, have you done what Christ has called you to do? Join a small group or a ministry, or reach out to the lost. No one expects you to be Paul; just be who God designed you to be.

Paul did exactly what he was told to do by Christ. When Ananias came to Paul, just as Paul was told, there was a deeper confirmation of the power of Christ. Did Christ, or is Christ leading you somewhere today? Would you be able to hear Him?

We all must spend time alone with Christ. In scripture and prayer, we can be one with Him. When we quiet ourselves, the Spirit will move us. We are one day into the new year; are you searching for something? Have you experienced backsliding? Are you feeling alone and isolated? Spend time on your Damascus Road and speak to Christ. He will hear you, and the Spirit will move you.

If you do not know Christ, all this might seem like foolishness. Then why are you here? Paul told us the gospel appears as foolishness to those not in Christ. If you feel a curiosity about the God/man Jesus, reach out to us here at InMessiah.com. Perhaps the Spirit is calling to you, and that narrow gate is just over the next hill.

Peace and Grace!
