“And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.” Psalm 9:10 (ESV)

As the god of this world continues to roam about the Earth like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour, believers in Christ Jesus may find themselves very subtly falling into the trap of becoming anxious about tomorrow’s events just like non-believers.  Given the fact that we are constantly bombarded with stories of doom and gloom in the news and on social media, it’s easy to understand how so many of us can switch from living our lives in cruise control – having full faith and assurance in God and His plan – to going into full-blown panic mode where we’re afraid to leave the house.  Yes, the Lord did tell us in His Word that there will be wars and rumors of wars, and famines and earthquakes, but He also said this would be the beginning of the end of the age, and not the end itself (read Mathew 24).  God’s Word does not tell us how long these events will take place before Christ returns, but know this:  He is coming back.

Are you ready?  Have you placed your faith in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ?  Do you believe that He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world – your sin, specifically – that He rose from the dead, and you’ve invited Him into your life as your Lord and your Master? If so, give God the praise!  As the Lord told Peter in Mathew 16:17 (ESV):  “flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my Father which is in Heaven.”  Your faith means you are one of God’s elect; therefore, do not be afraid of what’s taking place now nor what’s to come.

Need a little more reassurance?  Here are just a few verses of God’s Word to lean on if you suspect that your faith may be wavering during these troubling times:

·       Deuteronomy 31:6:  Be strong and courageous.  Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you.  He will never leave you nor forsake you.

·       Psalm 46:1:  God is our refuge and strength; a very present help in time of trouble.

·       Isaiah 40:31: but they that wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

·       Romans 8:28: And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.

·       1 Peter 5:7: casting all of your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.

The Bible is God’s love letter to mankind. Turn to His Word for reassurance and comfort.  For Believers, that roaring lion I mentioned has no teeth and no claws.  All of the turmoil that we see in the world is either being allowed by God, or being orchestrated by God Himself.  It is the result of God’s judgement of sin and the rejection of His One and only Son.  Therefore, Believers must remember who they are in Christ – beloved, holy, and sanctified.  Believers are joint heirs with Christ, meaning that what the Father has given the Son, He will also give us – peace with God in this life, and eternal life with Him in the next.  No matter what the situation – good or bad – hold on to God’s unchanging hand and give Him the praise.  Yes, the “end” is coming, but those who endure to the end will be saved.

Go in peace.
