" I know them"

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one.” (John 10:27-30 ESV)
Jesus assures us that His sheep, His chosen ones, His beloved, hear His voice. What brings us such comfort is that Jesus tells us He “knows them.” God knows His children. Jesus knows our hearts, and those who have placed their faith in His finished work on the cross. We receive eternal life when we follow Christ, and it is through grace and our faith in Christ that we are plucked from this world. And here's the most reassuring part: no one, absolutely no one, can snatch us from the hand of Christ or our salvation. Our salvation is secure, our faith is firm, and our hearts are known.
It is important to remember that while we remain in this world, our works do not make us children of God. We will still sin, but it is our heart that matters. A repentant heart is a heart desiring the mercy and grace of God. Often, we worry about our salvation. Are we really saved? Are we children of God? Is there blood of the lamb on the lentil posts of your life? Do you hear the voice of Christ? If one worries about being saved, one should see that as an indication of salvation. The lost do not worry about their salvation; the gospel to them is folly.
Do you remember the time before you knew Christ or the first time you heard Him call you? If you are honest with yourself, you most likely cared nothing about God, Jesus, or salvation. If you did believe there was a God, you did not pursue Him; you were worried about yourself. At some point, God desired to call you. It may have taken a while, but you came and received grace, found faith, and were saved.
Once a child, you are always a child of God. Calvin called it the perseverance of the saints. No one can take you away from Christ. You may think you know your own heart, but do you acknowledge the truth of what that heart contains? It is not always good, is it? God does not care about your works. It does not matter how often you sit in a church. There are many spiritually blind and deaf who sit in a church every week to check a box. Do you do all things to glorify God, be it eating, drinking, working, or playing, do you do it for the glory of God? God looks at your heart, love, devotion, and faith in His son. This is what matters. Our reality lies in the Words of God in the Bible. The Bible lays out our path in life to glorify God. Jesus gave us this path in His words and often used the Old Testament to illustrate His point.
So, do you hear the Shepherd? When you are lost, do you seek Him, His words, and His comfort? Is He your infinite treasure? Is He worth more than everything and everyone you love? Do you trust that He and He alone knows your heart? Are you continually overjoyed in your life despite the trials and troubles? Do you strive to do everything to glorify God? If so, you must be hearing His voice with great regularity.
If you do not hear His voice but are intrigued by the words of our Lord and Savior, seek Him. Call out to Him to become your Savior. Reach out to us here at In Messiah Ministries; we can show you where in the Bible you can find the words of Salvation.
