Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

Jesus is the truth, because of His sinless perfection, He is unable to lie. According to scripture, there is one way to heaven, and that is by grace, through faith in Christ. The only thing we are able to do as a result of the supernatural change of salvation is to repent of our sins.

In Proverbs 16, it is written, “The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.  Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for; through the fear of the Lord evil is avoided.” (vv.5-6) The human heart is evil, laced with the sin of Adam. Only through the love and faithfulness of Christ in His obedience to the Father are we able to receive a new heart, a heart of flesh no longer hardened by sin.

Many despise Christianity, especially those who hold to reformed beliefs. They find the concept of unconditional election offensive, calling it exclusionary. Yes, Christianity is exclusive; salvation is for God’s elect. But Christianity is also all-inclusive. Not one race, creed, color, former religion, or level of sin can keep one from becoming a Christian as long as they are God’s elect. God does not discriminate. Jesus is an equal opportunity Savior open to all whom God the Father gives to Him.

Humans love sin. They love it so much that they choose to reject God over their desire to sin. René Descartes (philosopher) and John Calvin (theologian) both believed that humans have an innate understanding of the existence of God. Even though one may not have been taught about God, they have a natural understanding that someone greater than they created everything. Yet some choose their own sinful ways over the ways of righteousness.

Even in such blatant sin and rebellion against God, the way to salvation is still available. For the elect, there is nothing you can do or have not done that can prevent salvation as long as one comes to faith in the Lord.

Jesus already knows who will come to Him. Election is not because God already knew one would come to believe, or have some special intelligence to understand the gospel. Election was not made through clairvoyance, but through the sovereign decision of God. Before time, God chose all He would name as His children because He loved them.

So, it is by the grace of Jesus Christ that one comes to yearn for Him, for salvation. It is also by this grace that we are able to come to faith in Jesus as our Savior, and have the ability to turn from our sin, changing our minds on what we desire and reject. In Christ is eternal life; you cannot buy it or earn it. It is free. All you need to do is come to Christ and ask to be saved. Call on Jesus today.

Choose life, get saved.
