I am here and there

“And it shall come to pass in that day, declares the Lord of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off your neck, and I will burst your bonds, and foreigners shall no more make a servant of him. But they shall serve the Lord their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them.” (Jeremiah 30:8-9 ESV)

Jesus told us the Bible is about Him, and Jesus was not a megalomaniac; it is about Him. I always talk about finding Jesus throughout the Old Testament. In this passage of Jeremiah, the cross is clearly visible.

Jeremiah wrote the words God gave him concerning Judah and Israel. “And it shall come to pass in that day, declares the Lord of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off your neck, and I will burst your bonds,” God speaks of what He will do for Judah and Israel. If we look at this from a Christ-centered hermeneutic, Jesus broke the yoke of sin and death, and our bonds as slaves to sin have been removed. “foreigners shall no more make a servant of him.” Here, we see the separation between the Jews and Gentiles removed. We find this in the New Testament in the writing of Paul and Acts. “But they shall serve the Lord their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them.” “Whom I will raise up for them,” God raised up Jesus for the world, the perfect sacrifice, the perfect judge, the perfect prophet, the perfect King, and above all, the perfect Savior.

Jeremiah spoke the words of God between 626 BC and 587 BC, foretelling Christ’s finished work. Jesus is no megalomaniac; the Bible is about Him. Just look, and you will find Him. The Old Testament contains hundreds of Messianic prophecies, all telling of Jesus and how we can find salvation through His blood.
