“By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.” (Hebrews 11:3 ESV)

It is that time of year when everyone is raking, blowing, or mowing leaves. I have so many leaves around my house because it is the woods, so I choose to mow them. While cleaning leaves around the house, I spotted a bright red Salamander. They are poisonous, but I could not help but marvel at the color, a brilliant red that warns predators, “Hey, I am poisonous. A short time later, I saw a bird that should not be here this time of year, a bird with a neon blue color that glows in the sun.

While mowing leaves, I could not help but think of this verse. I believe in the creation model as written in the Bible. I believe what many will not and that everything that was made was made Ex Nihilo, out of nothing, just as the writer of Hebrews wrote so many, many years ago.

We were created from the dust, and to the dust, we shall return, our bodies at least. Dirt shares many of the same elements as our bodies. I do not think that is by accident, and neither should you if you believe the Bible.

What is amazing is that God created everything from nothing. Nothing existed but God, three in person, one in being. God created to share His love and to be worshiped for His holiness, love, mercy, grace, and, yes, wrath. God spoke it into creation, and if you understand John’s prologue (1:1-5) in his gospel, creation came through the Son, our Savior, Christ Jesus.

If you have never watched a sunset, a sunrise, a night sky filled with stars, a red salamander, or an amazingly colored bird, you need to slow down and look at the creation of God that surrounds you. It is fascinating, beautiful, and sometimes emotionally overwhelming, but one thing is for sure: it is God’s creation.

There is an old saying, “Stop and smell the roses. " Stop and smell them; they smell beautiful. Then thank God for His creation. God created you for His glory.

If you do not know Him, seek Christ, and you will find His love, peace, mercy, and grace. You will find it in your salvation through your faith in Christ. Seek Him.

Peace and Grace!
