"Every Word of God Proves True"

“Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” (Proverbs 30:5 ESV)
Martin Luther said, “If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at the moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ. Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved. And to be steady on all the battle fields besides is merely flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point.”
A battle has been raging since the beginning of time: the battle for the inerrancy of the Bible. What Martin Luther said in his time is most likely even more crucial today; we cannot flinch in this battle. This battle is about God's truth, not only in His words but also in His actions. Calling the Bible fallible is calling God a liar. The urgency of this battle cannot be overstated.
We can take this all the way back to Genesis 3. The battle began there in verses 1-5:
“Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’” But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
This is the first question asked in the Bible and the first time the Word of God is called into question. Now, a talking snake should have been Eve’s first clue that something was wrong, but Satan lulled her and she listened. You see, Satan is calling the veracity of God into question, “he is hiding something from you”, “He wants to control you”, “ He does not want you to be like Him, He is vain.” These are the lies about God that Satan told Eve were His characteristics. This is why Jesus called Him the “father of lies” in John 8:44. Eve had limited free will, and she chose poorly. She knew better because she knew God’s love and grace, yet she barely defended Him. The fall was not the eating of the apple; that was the result of the fall. The fall was questioning the word of God and turning from it.
It is no different today than it was in the garden. I know people who believe in God yet do not believe the Bible is inerrant. The belief that there are certain parts of the Bible that could not have happened. One person used the standing still of the sun in the sky for Joshua (10:12-13). “Well, that could not have happened because of physics, gravity”, etc. Do you think for one second that the God who created all these things could not pause the sun and the sky and maintain the cohesion of the universe and life on earth at the same time? This person must have a small view of the incredible power of God.
The minute one does not believe, trust, and have faith that the Word of God is absolutely inerrant, when it is no longer the source of the greatest good, the most abundant joy, and the source of all assurances of God’s mercy and grace, then mistrust in God has set a fishhook of sin in the heart. Without the belief that God’s Word is inerrant, we have nothing, no creation, no prophecy to be fulfilled, no incarnation, no crucifixion, no resurrection, no ascension, no nothing. Every book of the Bible points to Christ, and if you fail to believe one portion of it, like a house of cards, it collapses.
There is a war; it will remain unending until the enemy, Satan, is thrown into the lake of fire. It is a spiritual war that attacks every part of Christianity. The Bible is one battle front. The Old Testament of the Bible foretells the coming Messiah beginning in Genesis and ending with Malachi. The New Testament tells of His Birth, Ministry, death, resurrection, and ascension. The Epistles tell us what Jesus did and what we are to do as a result of His sacrifice. The enemy, Satan, wants to deny all of this; he must. He is succeeding, even within the ranks of so-called believers; Satan is succeeding.
Salvation can only be found by grace in faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. If you do not know Jesus as your Savior, time is of the essence. Do not wait; call upon Him and ask Him to save you, repent from your sins, and follow Christ. If you want more information, reach out to us here at In Messiah Ministries, a Christian ministry dedicated to spreading the truth found in the Word of God, and we can guide you in your spiritual journey.
Grace and Peace!
