“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV)

God is perfect. In every way, He is perfect—All-holy and transcendently pure. One of my favorite traits of God is His patience. The weight of my sin is so heavy that I should have been crushed into hell yesterday, and yet God is patient with me.

It is His grace. A grace that is new every day. Believers tell me all the time how their failures make them feel unworthy. I immediately tell them the blood of Christ has made them worthy. Yes, we are convicted by the Spirit of our sin, sometimes so loud and clear it will break your heart. We repent, and Christ forgives us. We still drop our heads because we know we have failed. I still do it. We must remember that God’s grace is new every day. Sometimes, we even feel God was wrong for forgiving us, but Christ died so that we could be forgiven.

It is an unconditional love beyond understanding. We groan that we are not as devoted as we should be. We moan that we are not in the word as much as we should be. I want you to stop and recognize grace despite your sins. Recognize grace because of the blood, and because of the blood of the Lamb, there are new mercies daily.

Here is how you can recognize Satan’s voice. When we sin and are convicted, we weep. Satan will tell us, “Run away.” If we even consider repenting our sins and giving thanks for our forgiveness, Satan will say to us, “You hypocrite,” “Come on; you committed the same last week, you hypocrite. How could God want you? You are not worthy; run away.” But the voice of God will tell you, “I know you have sinned; run back to me; you are mine.” It is patience and a love that surpasses all love. “I know you have sinned but run back to me.” And you must start running before He reaches you because God has already started your way. If you have sinned, you must run to God.

It is not like this for everyone. It is like this for those who are devoted to Christ. Who believe in Him and have been re-born in Spirit. It is for His children, His elect, His heirs. It is not for the children of wrath, those of the world.

My Brothers and Sisters, we should be broken by our sins. We should not be naïve about our sins. We should not trust ourselves; we are inherently sinful, and once we understand and accept this, the better off we will be in our lives. We should work, striving to resist sin, all the while remembering Christ was enough. His blood was enough that when we sin, we repent and let it go. We cannot take our sins back. Instead, please look to another day, look to tomorrow to strive to be more Christ-like. Another day of God’s mercies. Another day of God’s grace.

I am grateful for God’s patience. I am equally thankful for His amazing grace. It saved a wretch like me and will continue to every day until I stand in His presence.

Peace and Grace!
