A Prayer of Remembrance

Heavenly Father,

We worship You and give You praise because you are our God.

You are the hand of creation, the hand of life, and the eternal hope.

In your children, You saw the evil and sent the cure.

We praise our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus.

We pray that we never forget the cross.

We pray that we never forget the cost of our redemption.

We praise the one who left heaven and took on the form of a servant.

The man of constant sorrow who stood in the midst of a broken Eden and went willingly to that tree, nailed for our depravity, bearing our sins and cleansing us with hyssop.1

We pray we never forget the sacrifice from which came the only Way to eternity, the Way to the Father, and the only Way to eternal life.

Father, we pray for relief from the prince of this world. We are tempted and fail; we ignore the cross for things of this world.

In Your abundant mercy, blot out our transgressions. Wash us thoroughly from our iniquity and cleanse us from our sin.2

Merciful Father, we pray You give us a broken and contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.

Cast us not away from Your presence and take not Your Holy Spirit from us.  Restore to us the joy of Your salvation and uphold us with a willing spirit.3

Father, for Your glory, knowing we cannot be plucked from Your hand, we pray we never forget the cost, the obedience, the grace, the love, and the mercy. Let us never forget the cross, for without it, we would have nothing but despair.

In the powerful name of Christ Jesus, we pray, Amen.
