A Friday Prayer

Most Holy and Righteous Father,

I come to You as humbly as I know how, in the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, honoring You as the one true and living God, maker of the heavens and the Earth. You are the creator and sovereign sustainer of all things.  You are a holy God.  You are eternal.  You are great, and greatly to be praised. You are omnipotent; all powerful. You are omnipresent; there is no hiding from You.  You are omniscient; You know all things, including what is in the heart of man.  You have searched me and You know everything about me, and yet You still choose to love me. 

I thank You for the endless supply of mercy and grace You’ve shown me.  Your love is indescribable, and I know that I do not deserve it.  There are no good works I can perform that would ever wipe my slate clean and put me in right standing with You, so I thank You for saving me by Your grace through faith in the finished works of Your only begotten Son.  Thank You, Lord Jesus, for dying for my sins, rising from the dead with all power in Your hands, and for being seated at the right hand of the Father, advocating for me.  I love you.  As much as I love You, I will always fall short of Your glory in this lifetime because of the sins I commit in thought, word, and deed.  There are times, Father God, when I feel like I’ve done more than just disappoint You, but that I’ve actually broken Your heart because You are too Holy to look upon sin.  So I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking on my sin in exchange for Your righteousness.  I thank You, Lord Jesus, that the Father now sees me covered in the precious blood of the Lamb.  I thank You for the gift of repentance and for the conviction of Your indwelling Holy Spirit. Thank You for restoring the joy of my salvation; for never leaving me or forsaking me; and for choosing me in Christ Jesus before the foundation of the world. 

Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory for ever and ever.  Amen.
