A Christian Sabbath Prayer

"And he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath." (Mark 2:27 ESV)

Father,

I thank you for the Sabbath rest. I know I do not always focus on you, so I ask that you eliminate those things that interfere with my communication, meditation, and rest in you this Sabbath day. Help me remember that you created all things, and you rested on the seventh day. Isaiah reminds us that you do not need physical rest, and your Son reminds us that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. I pray for your peace and grace and that all your children may experience both this Sabbath day.
