Fire!!!

“Can a man carry fire next to his chest and his clothes not be burned? Or can one walk on hot coals and his feet not be scorched?” (Proverb 6:27-28 ESV)

Playing with fire, we get burned. Many of us get so comfortable in our spiritual life that we begin to play with fire. We flirt with disaster. We become ever so distant in our relationship with Christ that we give Satan the opportunity to pounce and tempt us with the things in which we are weak. The author of 1 John reminds us, “For all that is in the world the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever (1 John 2:17-18 ESV).

Remain strong in your relationship with Christ; the easiest way is to pray daily. Our prayer life links us directly to Christ. Speak to Him often during the day, not just to bless the food. Think about the things you have been enabled to do by God. Your family, your job, or in whatever else God has blessed you. As you go about these things, give thanks and praise because you are a blessed child of God. As a saint, you are called and commanded to worship, worship through prayer.

Prayer

Blessed Lord, forgive me, for I have strayed from you. I have allowed my weakness to separate us, and the tempter has moved me. I pray that I might be strengthened in you, Lord, to dispose of those things that separate us. Holy Spirit, renew my spiritual strength and pray I will continue to grow in sanctification. Edify me so that I might quickly recognize my failures. Merciful Father, I thank you for your mercies and grace. In the blessed name of your Son, Christ Jesus, I pray. Amen
