Who?

Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came up to him and said, “You also were with Jesus the Galilean.” But he denied it before them all, saying, “I do not know what you mean.” And when he went out to the entrance, another servant girl saw him, and she said to the bystanders, “This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.” And again he denied it with an oath: “I do not know the man.” After a little while the bystanders came up and said to Peter, “Certainly you too are one of them, for your accent betrays you.” Then, he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, “I do not know the man.” And immediately, the rooster crowed. And Peter remembered the saying of Jesus, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” And he went out and wept bitterly. (Matt 27:68-75 ESV)

Is that you? Are you sure? Early in my walk, it was me. Let me ask you: have you ever been in a store when the feeling came upon you to reach out to someone and tell them about our Lord, but you did not? Have you ever heard someone telling a Christian joke, and you nervously laughed along? How many of your “friends” know you are a Christian?

Denial comes in all kinds of forms. We often do not say something because the enemy has put fear in our heads, which we allow to overrule our hearts. “Oh, I don’t know enough to talk about the Gospel,” or "I am not one of 'those' Christians." Answers like this cause those who embrace Christ to have concern for the brother or sister who speaks these things.

Yes, Christianity is not popular. It is not popular because this world is in control of the prince of the power of the air, and he doesn’t want it to be popular. If you have accepted Christ, His light is in you. You project it, and as Jesus said, you do not light a lamp and place it under a bowl.

Speak aloud about Christ. Tell of His glory and how one can have salvation through Him. You never know about that seed you plant. Others will water that seed, and it will grow. When it has grown enough, that person will feel the pull toward God, and someone else will reap the harvest of the seed you planted.

Spread the Gospel; it’s better than butter, jelly, or both for that matter.
